Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Children Board announced today their stance on the current situation regarding Coronavirus (Covid 19) and its position with regards to maintaining the safety and welfare of children and young people in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire.
Whilst the Board accepts this is unprecedented circumstances, please be assured that the wellbeing of our front-line staff and the community as a whole is our priority and the Board have stressed that the wellbeing and safety of children and young people is paramount.
With the depletion of front-line staff due to social distancing and self-isolation, the Board would firstly like to commend and support all those that work with children and the tasks they are performing. It is even more essential currently to uphold our statutory duty to Safeguard and promote the welfare of our most vulnerable who are now in ever increasing need of protection.
Our partners and practitioners, working with children, young people, parents and carers, whilst mindful of Public Health England guidance at all times, are asked to maintain our child protection protocols, ensure continuity of service and identify the risks they are faced with. Continuing to ensure the Board is well equipped to support its partner agencies and practitioners and perform its statutory duty is paramount and will be achieved by working together to enable all agencies to achieve a collaborative approach to Safeguarding whilst also delivering their essential services.
