Voluntary, Community Sector

Welcome to the Voluntary and Community Sector section of the Safeguarding Children Board (SCB) website.

The voluntary and community sector have an important role to play in the support and safeguarding of vulnerable children, young people and their families. Stoke-on-Trent has a large and diverse community of voluntary organisations, from small, local groups, faith groups and larger organisations providing services that are commissioned by organisations such as Stoke-on-Trent City Council.   The purpose of having a section specifically for the VCS is to provide all of the most relevant information and links for you in one place. However, it is really important that this is not the only section of the SCB website that you look at, as there is so much information which is relevant to you.

Please take some time to familiarise yourselves with other content and if you would like to:

  • provide feedback about the website;
  • suggest a useful link or document to be included or
  • receive regular email Safeguarding Children updates;

then please email

Early Help Assessment
Safeguarding Threshold Criteria 2019 is the document used by all professionals in Stoke-on-Trent to assess the level of intervention required for children and young people with differing needs. This document will help you to identify whether or not the threshold for intervention is met for a Child in Need or a Child Protection referral. This document is currently under review but until the revised document has been launched, please continue to use this version.
