Report Online Abuse

If someone you are talking to online does or says something that makes you feel upset, worried or uncomfortable, or if someone asks or suggests that you do something you don’t want to do, then you need to do something about it.

Just remember, that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. What is being suggested to you may also be suggested to a child or vulnerable adult. Please don’t ignore it. You may be helping to prevent someone being abused and/or exploited.

If this happens, you should take action without delay. Save any messages that have upset you or, made you feel uncomfortable so that you can use them to support your actions.

You can ring the police and discuss the messages or, you can get further advice and support by visiting the Governments CEOPS website (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre) where there is lots of useful information for you. It will also provide you with a way to report what has happened to you if you don’t want to contact the police.
