Training Guidance

All staff and volunteers working in schools should have an induction that clearly sets out the schools expectations in relation to safeguarding and child protection. In addition, staff should undertake training, and regular updates, relevant to their role.

Level 1 training (whole school)
All staff and volunteers working in schools should complete level 1 safeguarding children training. This is a 2.5 hour course delivered in school, at a time to suit you, by Dawn Casewell, the Safeguarding Education Officer. For local authority maintained schools, there is no charge for this training. Academies and private education providers will incur a charge for this training.

Level 1 training (open session)
Sometimes schools will have staff who are not able to attend a whole school update, new staff, or staff who need to renew their level 1 course before a whole school update is due. To accommodate this, open sessions, delivering level 1 training, take place on a regular basis. Any school/academy can book individual staff members onto open sessions.

To book a level 1 whole school update, or to book individual members of staff onto an open session, please e-mail sangita.mishra@stoke.gov.uk

If you would like to discuss level 1 training, or find out about available places on open sessions, please contact Dawn Casewell on 01782 235897 or at dawn.casewell@stoke.gov.uk
